Unwelcome Visitor

by Jonas Mather

I do not want to meet you yet.
Too many fish to fry,
Songs to write,
Books to read
And there's the wine, too.
No, Not yet.
Offer not the cold handshake
And the stilled heart.
I must know more of pain
And love and separation.
Call again, and you will,
But much later, please.
