The Sabian Thesaurus

July, 2004 – Number 805

Each month, students are invited select one sentence from the Blue Letter, Philosophy and Bible lessons from the sets in the previous month which they have found to be especially meaningful. These selections are included when the next set of monthly lessons are mailed. It is extraordinary to see how many of the selections match each other, and instructive as to where lies the focus of the consciousness.

Here are the selections for the month of July, 2004, as well as a selection from the Thesaurus fifteen year ago. It is possible that these selections, and the lessons from which they are taken, may also speak to you.

Message From the Blue Letters

Man has to experience himself as a giver of reality to be real and a doer of actuality to have existence in any true sense. (BL 849)

The most dependable signature for the student in attesting to the effectiveness of a conscious participation in the invisible fellowship is the very commonplace operation of the unexplainable that somehow adds up to a heightened living and accomplishment. (BL 852)

Our anti-rationalism is not a rejection of reason but rather is a repudiation of any necessity to accept as reason what is impelled on self when the self is denied the right to validation in experience (BL 854)

The Art of Play (“G”)

Man’s body must be disciplined to a point of self-confidence in health, the habits to a point of self-confidence in any instinctive act, the emotions to a point of self-confidence in every loyalty of the heart, and the thinking to a point of self-confidence in all sober or real judgments of the mind. (XII, pp. 35-36)

Every individual has almost complete freedom in the initial determination of the role he would like for himself in life. (XIII, p. 38)

Life must be lived with enthusiasm, even when it is blind. (XIII p. 39, 1st para.)

Here is the secret of a full life as giving creative intensity to inner hopes and wishes in order to meet the outer world in the freedom of play. (XIV p. 41, para. 2)

The Mosaic Covenant (“E”)

The strength on which man alone may count in every emergency of life is that which is founded on inner principle. (XII, p. 38, para. 3)

God if we will but permit it is the invisible partner of all. (XIII, p. 38, para. 1)

Historical significance places the emphasis on the higher level of that intangible entity that is manifest as the community or state or people. (XIV, p. 40, para. 2)
